Do you know that 30 millions of EU citizens are undernourished, 16% of EU population lives below the poverty line and according to 84% Europeans these problems have intensified in their countries over past three years? European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion may be a chance to finally change that. You also can prove your desire to fight against the most severe social issues in Europe and in your region. If you really want to find out more about poverty and its causes or play an active role in reducing social inequalities – take part in the 6th International Meeting of European Clubs, organized by the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation. For the sixth time the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation invites young people from Poland and other European Union countries to participate in the International Meeting of European Clubs. Project is directed to students from 15 to 20 years of age with their teachers who are members of groups carrying out initiatives promoting values and idea of European integration in schools. This year’s edition of event entitled ,,Europe with a human face” will take place in Konstancin – Jeziorna near Warsaw (Poland), from 11 to 15 November 2010. During a five-day Meeting 80 young people from different European countries will meet to join their forces in fight against poverty and social exclusion in the EU. Using interactive forms of learning – brainstorming, workshops, discussions, quiz and presentations – participants will develop their knowledge about diagnosing and eliminating the main problems of modern society. They will also find out how to avoid stereotypes associated with the collective perception of poverty and take part in
the City Game, which will allow them to apply new skills in practice. Moreover, there will be many opportunities to exchange positive experiences and deepen cultural integration. Project will be preceded by a brief survey conducted by European Clubs. One of the conditions of recruitment is to fill in the questionnaire about the most important problems connected with poverty
and exclusion in their local communities. Students participating in the Meeting will also be requested to take from 10 to 15 photos about poverty and exclusion in their region. The photographs (in 13×18 format) will be presented in an exhibition ,,The different faces of poverty” on the second day of the
Programme. All the activities and workshops will be lead in English.
